What do you think? Is it worthy of its fame? It's yellow.

To me it looks a little scary, with the "pointy petals" ...

To me it looks like a migraine waiting to happen.

To me the flowers look very "sick" - half have lost their petals and the other half are dried out and spiky. The one in the top left looks like a bug or something!

Do people find this restful? Or is it a meditation on "all things die"?

Well, I love the painting. Don't like that frame. I had this print in a barnwood-type frame in an eat-in kitchen. I think it toned down the yellow quite a bit. Oh, and a simple off-white mat.

Anyway, I think the painting has lots of movement and life left in it! One of the things I like about Van Gogh is his unusual vision.

And, in this one, I think it just reminds me of many "past their prime" flower arrangments. Which, I must confess to personally almost always waiting till it's absolutely necessary to toss flowers.

Now that I'm past my own prime, perhaps I can see even more value in them! LOL

I see what you mean, Deb, I think it would look much lovelier with a "rustic frame"!

I definitely wait until the very last petal has fallen off flowers before I throw them away. I rarely buy flowers so I want them to last as long as humanly possible!

I like this floral by him much better:

"Almond Branches in Bloom"

Although it doesn't seem to have that "feel" that most of Van Gogh's do.

This one does, and I still like it (even better than the original "Starry Night")

"Starry Night Over the Rhone"

That floral is quite pretty! The night landscape is nice too. What's interesting is that the night scene was done pre-electric light, right? So that is in essence a view of a city by candlelight?

On the sunflower painting, do the petal-less flower heads look like "faces" to anybody else? Like a bunch of faces all looking around?

Although I am not much into warm colors, I do like the painting a lot. It reminds me of a lazy autumn afternoon and I can almost hear bees buzzing in the distant when I look at it. I do agree it would look better in a rustic frame.

"Almond Branches in Bloom" is very peaceful looking and shows promise of new life. I like that.

"Starry Night Over the Rhone" is lovely and very peaceful. It must be a "city by candlelight". I wonder how Van Gogh had the ability to paint such a peaceful scene when his life and mind were so tormented. In the original Starry Night, I can pick out images of faces in many of the swirls he made and it is very disturbing. Has anyone else seen these hidden images in Starry Night, or did I just see a copy with someone else's added images hidden in the swirls?
