It always surprises me when people watch multiple hours of TV every day and think it's normal or even "less than average". So I'm curious, how many hours of TV do people watch each day?

There just are not any good shows on the tube anymore. I maybe watch a little local news, the National news about once a week and unless there is a good documentary on PBS that is about it.

We are opposites I think! I *never* watch news on TV and deliberately change the channel if it comes on. I find news on TV to be very "hyped" and sensational. I check CNN every morning for major stories, and get the Sunday Paper and Newsweek.
We have a few series we watch - like House and the Closer - but they're only on for a few weeks then go away again. And they're only once a week even when they're on.

I watch usually 2-3 hours of TV but also use that time to workout.
I also hate the news. I like my sci-fi mostly.

I don't think I would consider time you were exercising and "had the TV on" as watching TV - to me the exercise is the primary thing you're doing. This is more to figure out how much time you are just sedentary Skyhaven - that is a lot! We should find a hobby for you so for even part of that time you do something more rewarding with your time! Have you ever tried knitting or crocheting? How about games like sudoku to keep your brain cells engaged and thinking? How about a little garden on your porch?

Well, my sedentary time is all on the computer. Way too much of my day.

Ah but that is different!! I would say that computer time is exercising-the-brain time. It is all well and good to exercise the body, but with an inert brain it doesn't do you much good. So you need to dedicate a portion of your time to maintaining your body - and a portion to maintaining your brain. And the computer maintains your social / emotional health too. So it does double duty. For example sudoku would exercise just your brain - but figuring out things on a forum exercises your brain *and* provides a community emotional boost. So it's multitasking Now if you did computer work 100% of the time and body work 0% of the time that would be an imbalance. But I do feel healthy computer time is good for you!

Plus your body needs healing time So you exercise for say an hour, then do an hour of computer time which lets your body rest and heal and regrow - while improving your brain and emotional health. Then when you go exercise for another hour, your body is well rested and ready to go again! It's almost necessary for your overall health
