I'd like to use Photoshop Elements to modify some line drawings I've made by hand. Specifically, I'd like to scan my drawings and then use Photoshop to neaten them up by making all the lines a uniform width. Does anybody know how to do this in Photoshop?

I would scan the drawing into Photoshop on its own layer. Then on a new layer, use the Pen tool to draw the lines again using the scan as a guide. Because the Pen tool creates vector lines, it would be easy to resize the lines as needed to make them all the same.

If you have Illustrator, you can save some time by using the Live Trace feature to convert the scan to vector lines automatically.

Hope this helps.

Once you do the Live Trace in Illustrator how do you get rid of the white background color? I want to place my signature on a colored background or have it to be transparent.

Some of the Live Trace settings will give you a transparent background (this works best for solid color background). Give these a try. Then click the Expand button. From this point, you can save as an Illustrator file or copy/paste into Photoshop.

Simple Trace
Hand Drawn Sketch
Detailed Illustration
Tech Drawing
One Color Logo
Ink Drawing
Lettering

If that doesn't work for you, try using an opacity mask to create transparency. Check the Illustrator Help for details.

I prefer Photoshop than Illustrator. I know you can do excellent designs with Illustrator, but Photoshop is a great design program.
I've downloaded months ago a tutorial to learn to color comics. It is really amazing and very easy to learn.
