There's a chance that I could be pregnant with mine and my DH first child . I'm suppose to start my period this weekend. This waiting is about to kill me!!! I broke down and bought a test today and of course it was negative but I know that don't mean that I'm not. I've never been so anxious for my period!!! UGH!

Honestly...if you lead a healthy life style, I would strongly recommend waiting as LONG as you can before you take another test.

Everyone thinks that finding out so early is this wonderful thing, but I tend to disagree...

1) Pregnancy is closer to 10 months from conception to birth, 9 months around the time you might find out, 8 months before you're really sure...Pregnancy can seem like it's taking FOREVER, especially if you're prone to morning sickness, backaches, etc...and once you *know* you're pregnant, you will be hyper-aware of every nuance of your body...every twinge will scare the hell out of you, every ache will make you worry...Enjoy some of the down time of not having to freak out about everything, I say.

2) Also, and I admit that I'm a little skeptical because I've suffered two miscarriages in the past year, but I generally feel this way anyway...(and I've had 3 successful pregnancies, so I'm pretty versed in this pregnancy stuff)...The thing is, if there are going to be any troubles with the pregnancy or the potential for miscarriage--you are usually the most susceptable to problems in the first trimester. Women finding out they're pregnant so much earlier now really creates this space for a lot of heartache and disappointment that didn't always exist. Used to be a woman could be 4-6 weeks pregnant, not know it, miscarry and only think it was a late or heavy period...I'm not being callous, honestly...Just, having been through 2 miscarriages recently--and being FULLY aware because I found out I was pregnant around wk 5, I think I'd rather not know that early...

Anyway...It's stuck in your head now, so you'll be thinking about it...but if you're not pregnant, give yourself a little break before finding out next time you think it's a possibility...that's my advice.

Good luck with your trying.

Hey, rmatt, I'm originally from New Albany and lived in Louisville for about 5 years before we moved here outside of Owensboro.

I know the waiting is agonizing. The first time we we're trying to get pregnant, I must have tested at least twice a month. Those early tests are so expensive though. If you possibly can, wait a few days after you were supposed to start your period to test. At that point, you can use the cheapest test out there (this pregnancy, I just bought one from the Dollar General for a buck). The hormone levels just have to have time to rise to a high enough level for the test to detect. Even if you are pregnant, it won't show if you test too early. Just hang in there and you can save yourself a ton of money.

Waiting of any kind is agony...I had moments when I wished my period would came and when my period wouldn't and all the symptoms are just the same....both pregnancy and PMS, you cannot tell the difference!!!

I agree with all these woman. Wait b/c I have lost a baby due to anencephalie at 13 days old in Oct. 2006 and then got pregnant again found out early and then m/c. I would wait until about 8 weeks after missed period to find out. Enjoy not knowing but wanting to be. I hated worring when I wasn't that far along.

I know how hard waiting could be. Last time I did a pregnancy test, it showed positive within a minute.

Good luck!

I am currently going through the same thing as you and I understand how hard it is. This will be my 3rd living child god willing and my 4th pregnancy. I found out about at the 6 week point with the baby I miscarried and lost it at 3 months. I had no clue what was happening then. I found out very early with my other two like before my period should have come, But I could tell I was pregant I dont feel like that with PMS. Any ways the point is with every little cramp and bubble and pain I thought I was going to miscarry again and all it did was freak me out! But when you are trying its not like you can just wait until your 8 weeks You have been counting every day when to have sex when your ovulating and when you should start your period If it doesnt come this month like it has done all the last then chances are you are pregnant its not like you could just ignore that. If you take a ealy HPT take it with you first urine of the day thats when its the strongest this still may not work though. and make sure that if you arnt already go to your DR and get prenatal vits its good to take them even before you get pregnant! GOOD LUCK and Baby dust to you!!!!

There are times when you are waiting for something, time just seems to go on so slowly! i guess the best thing to do is to distract yourself from it.
