Here is Nazo, who was born August 20, 1997 - so she's turning 11. She is our eldest parakeet and is very "low key" now. She really doesn't fly any more, she sort of plummets. So she mostly stays in the cage while the other keets fly around the room. She was always the friendliest of the keets as we had her first and alone for about a year. She was hand raised.

You can see in this image that she had a toe injury a few years back where she wrenched one of her toes, it no longer works properly. It's the small claw on her right foot, you can see in the image that it points forwards and not backwards. It has not slowed her down at all, but it always makes me a little sad to see that.

She's very pretty Lisa. I'm glad she has managed very well with her toe injury.

My African grey parrot had a toe injury when she was a baby - her toe got caught on a blanket when the breeder picked her up for handfeeding. Her toe points up & I always have to make sure it is trimmed because it doesn't wear like her other toes do.

I'm lucky with Nazo because it does wear down the nail naturally, and she has no problems sitting or landing or anything else. She is the only green bird in the set of four so I suppose I feel badly for her that she is the odd one out, then plus with this little foot injury. But maybe she is happy being the unique one smile

She is gorgeous!
She is the same colour as my pet budgie - also a female. My girl wasn't handraised but was naturally tame from when we first brought her inside at 6 weeks old. She is 3 on the 1st June and she has had 3 clutches of chicks and is still tame.
