How true! This is a great article. I like the way you give suggested businesses related to skills that many people don't appreciate about themselves, such as shopping and cleaning.

I recommend this article to anyone who is considering their own business (actually I recommend your site in general smile ). I'm going to add this to my social bookmarking sites and also e-mail it to some of my friends! Thanks for an enlightening article!

Wonderful article! I think our talents many times lead us to what we are passionate about and that will most of the time take us to success in a business-or whatever you determine success to be for you.

I have always been interested in health and wellness and my talent is for writing so I've been able to combine the two quite successfully and it a way that is very fulfilling for me.

I think it is important to look at skills for things like shopping and cleaning as a talent too because lots of times you can turn a skill like that into a business. If you think of what you're good at, there are probably lots of people around who are not skilled in that area who would love your services!

Thanks, Ladies!

I often find that women are at a loss when asked about their skills, but they hold down jobs, raise kids, run a household, have a couple of hobbies or groups they attend to, and so on. So, life skills are very important to consider and can lead to some great business ideas.

And, I so appreciate your support and positive comments! I've been sick this week and any positivity is a good thing!

Hope you are feeling better, Deb. This article was great. Especially about how we don't always recognize our talents because they seem effortless to us. That is so true!

I have an (almost) 18yo daughter who is a natural at things like art and photography, but bec those seem natural to her, she assumes it is for everyone & hasn't recognized them as her gifts.

My 19yo son is a gifted speaker. He is witty and can hold the attention of everyone listening. He aced through public speaking courses & easily makes friends, but he still wonders what he is good at. I wonder why it takes so long to recognize the skills right under our nose. Took me a few decades myself!

I love your articles under Business Ideas, too!

Thanks, Donna! I agree, we never see our own talents very clearly. And, even if we see them, we think it's no big deal because they come so easily to us. It must be human nature to do things the hard way. LOL

But, the best examples of success we have are those who love what they are doing and almost always, it's something that comes easily to them. Discovering this is a gift.

Charles Schulz is someone I look up to in that regard - he did something he loved right up until the day he died.

Donna, what you say about your daughter is interesting. My daughter is now 21 and a senior in college. She's so precise in everything she does, even as a very small child. Everything had to be just so, she had her little routines for everything (she still does!) she went into architecture, which needs a very precise way of thinking and doing things.

Over the years tho, I've encouraged her to "think outside the box" which is kind of hard for her. Her own professors push that too tho so she is learning to take her talent and push it to new levels and discover new things.

It's amazing to watch her grow and change.
