Shootingstar, Hi! Maybe we are related - if you go back far enough in time a lot of people will find they have common ancestors. However, the families branch out in so many different directions that eventually the blood line wears pretty thin. My great, great maternal grandfather was a descendant of Charlemagne thru his maternal grandmother's side - so it gets pretty complicated the further back you go. So.....Charlemagne was my many times over Great, Great, Great Grandfather. This is funny! My sister ran into a new friend who also is a descendant of Charlamagne. Wow! maybe we should have a reunion!!!

Phyllis - yes, the scoop (or shovel) tooth. I always thought there was something "wrong" with my teeth that I have this little ridge. I think it was on the boards that I ran across the explanation and from there did a google search on it. It was a really cool "find" since our Cherokee heritage was never discussed openly, but treated as old stories and rumors.

I will have to check your website and start reading/researching more. They were from SE Kentucky.
