What is your favorite Good Eats episode? Good Eats, from Food Network, I mean! In case anyone was confused. I get confused easily so just though I'd clarify.

We love Good Eats at our house, even the kids really get into it!

We just watched the Marshmallow one last week, and we even made the homemade marshmallows. Beware, they are very very sticky and messy!

We are making the sweet pickles this week!

I love Good Eats, and love it even more once I got the idea to incorporate it into our homeschool lessons! Science behind the food! We've been having a lot of fun!

I also like the chicken wings, and the "Man Food", and the chocolate ones,. . . .

I guess it's just too hard to pick one.

What are your favorites?

Great article, Marci!

My favorite episodes are probably the Sushi, the chili (with an I), the chiles (with an e), the "man food" show, crepes, and power bars.

I also like the one where he shows how to make treats for kids, like homemade tootsie rolls, but I'm starting to try to lose weight again today, so I can't think about it.

I don't know if I could just pick one as my favorite - they are all great!

I love the way he teaches about cooking not just how to cook. He answered a lot of questions I had about how different foods and spices interact with each other - things that are never explained in cookbooks.

Marci,

I love him. I can't remember my favorite Good Eats show right off the top of my head but I do remember when he was on another cable show (or maybe he spoofed the show) where two teams make something from the junk yard. Him and another lady I think were trying to make meat smokers in competition. It was great.

Do you have any of his books?

I haven't watched Good Eats in ages, but your recommendation to watch with the kids is a good one. My kids are at that age where they no longer want a steady diet of kids' TV but they aren't old enough for a lot of grown-up fare.

I love every single episode. I don't always agree with what Alton does, but he does it well and I constantly learn things from him.

I do not however like his grungy scruffy look he seems to be pulling off lately. All last season I almost didn't want to watch him because of his looks. Even Iron Chef America.

I am glad he's shaving once again and looks like the clean knowlegable person he is LOL

I agree, some of the things he makes takes twice as long as the way I am currently doing it, and with two kids and a ravenous husband speed is sometimes of the essence!

or you learn new techniques that you hadn't considered or a item you hadn't considerd.

I love the shortcuts he teaches and how to use one thing to get another.

I am no longer a fan of the single use item
