I have three Adult birds two female and one male. The original pair m/f both green came from family members whom said they were about the same age I got these two around July. After about a week or so i did some researching on breeding and bought another female bluish in color that was "Ready" because the others nose had not changed more brownish yet. Well with in the first week the new Blue colored female and male started to get more "friendly" well by September they were pecking at the other female so i got a second cage and put it next to the cage with the male and blue female by November the female kept going into her box and staying in more at first i thought she was sad because she was not out as much eating well next thing i know i hear little tweeping there was 3 new lil lovely birds. One was green kinda like the dad and the other two were yellow couldnt tell them apart. Well around late December they were hot at it again it was like the female could not get enough by i think january there were 5 more eggs All hatched but within in a day the tinyest one died and 4 remained well they are all out and about now a variety of colors one is mostly white with very little blue another blue with wite and one blue like momma and the other green like daddy they are so adorable. My question is now the mother kinda seems to not have the same desire and loves to be out of the cage wondering around with all the birds, is this normal? How many times is it normal to lay eggs and i heard they dont breed in winter well these did on there own. Will she breed again? Another question is the other older birds nose still is the same is she ready to put in a cage to breed?

Although most females get the brown crusty cere when they are ready to breed - not all of them do, so you can't rely on that to show if they are ready or not.

Two clutches are enough for a pair to raise but often they will keep going if the conditions are ideal. It is best to remove the nestbox after 2 clutches in order to keep the parent birds healthy because they will exhaust themselves with continuous clutches. They should have at least 6 months off between breedings.

Budgies will bread year-round if conditions are ideal.

Budgie hens go into season every 7-8 weeks so it's not unusual for a pair to continuously breed year round. It is up to you to make them stop - even if it means addling any eggs so they don't hatch. Definately remove the nest box.
When the females cere is at it's most crusty, that means she is going out of season.
A male's cere won't change colour once he reaches adulthood - unless he becomes infertile.
Are you sure the green pair are male & female? How about a picture?

Well the original pair are at lest one year old and the previous owner told me it was boy girl and the boy has blue and the girl is yellowish nose and they kiss once in a while. How can i stop the mating pair when they are constintly going at it mating i find that very mean to stop them in the action. Plus my box is not in the cage its connected to the cage on the outside. So should i put the mother in a different cage because she is always mating and flying into the box and sitting. I will work on getting a good picture of the birds.

You should be able to either remove the box or to put a barrier between the box and the cage, so the birds can not get into it. Budgies will continue to breed as long as conditions are good, but after the first couple of clutches, you will find that the babies are not as healthy because the parents are getting worn out. The parent's health will suffer and the babies will not survive.

You put the picture on the web and then insert the picture here. In order to get the button to insert a picture, you have to either start a new post or hit the reply button instead of using the quick reply to a post.

Yellowish nose? Is the one you're talking about got the yellow spot on the back of the head?

I'd ideally like a clear pic of the cere to be able to tell sex.
Mavis is correct in that you need to remove the nest box. You can't stop the birds from doing the act but by removing the box you can stop them creating more babies.
Just throw out any eggs that are laid.

Also for the removing of the nesting box the box is connected to the cage from the outside and there is a opening that is cut so she can enter from inside the cage. I would feel so horrible to throw away eggs. frown

Then BLOCK THE ENTRANCE TO THE NEST. Sorry to yell, but this has been repeated a few times, and it's actually hurting your birds to have them pumping out those eggs, especially the female.

They're all very cute, the blue ones remind me of my first parakeet. Should have named him Houdini, he could get out of any cage whenever he wanted. :P
