It is so great you're getting a rescue cat! All of my cats have been rescues and it is so nice knowing your are saving a kitty that might have been slain.

I think you should go in without any preconceived notions and see which one speaks to your heart smile

That's fantastic that you're saving a cat, especially an adult! So many people don't realize how great they can be and instead snatch up a kitten just for the cuteness factor. Good luck in choosing your new pet!

Good for you, Nicola!

Our Whispurr was a rescue cat. She had been abused by previous owners and it took us quite some time to assure her we would not harm her. And my grandson is so gentle with her. Now she is very trusting and comfy in our home.

Check out www.petfinder.com, they have some wonderful pets. We adopted a 6 year old kitty last year just before Thanksgiving. He is a sweet baby.

Rosie - we're allergic to cats but we find several ways to make it not so bad. We have an air filter in the bedroom and you can of course completely lock them out of the bedroom if you want, which would mean sleeping would be fine. Also we have special blankets they sleep on on the couch and wash those regularly. Their litter boxes are down in the basement and they have a trap door they use to go down to them, so those are not in the breathable air space.

I highly recommend air filters!

We chose her today HOO HOO!

She is a small, timid, people-friendly, talkative, cuddly (and wants cuddles!) black and white puss who meowed when she saw me and looked at me with her amazing and very beautiful eyes. and came right up to the bars of her cage. The rescue did not know her age, but from her behavior I would say she is young. She is so sweet and she wanted US, which is why I knew she was 'the one' when I saw her. My small son of 7 also loved her, and my hubby and older son thought she was beautiful smile

She is being delivered on sunday. Which is so nice. Its like a new life for easter, and on the day Jesus rose too! I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO exited. We are going to call her precious because that is what she is

Our youngest kitty "chose" us at the humane society.

She literally reached out through the bars and snagged the sweater I was wearing to get my attention.

Then my husband asked me to come look at another kitty farther along in the room - and she just was pitiful, crying and pitching a fit until I came back to her cage.

The shelter worker got her out of the cage for me, and she snuggled up in my arms and went to sleep.

The funny thing was, this kitten had been listed as "not friendly" and "need to watch". They weren't going to let us adopt to begin with, because the observatio time wasn't up - but my inlaws volunteer at the shelter, so we were able to kind of push it through anyway.

When we were making our case to take her home I just looked at the manager and said "does she look unfriendly?" She purrs so loud you can hear her in another room!

Congratulations on getting Precious! That's fantastic.
We got 2 kittys from a rescue a year and a half ago. They keep each other company when we're away.

I am sorry. Some of the rescue can be a little over protective, I know! I found that, but this lady was lovely and really wanted us to have her. Which was lovely. I get the feeling that some rescue don't want to give the cats away! However, I think it is because they see how the poor cats have been mistreated and neglected.
