What comes to mind when you envision English food? I think about tea, I suppose, with little biscuits smile

Hi Lisa,
I think of Roast Beef, roast potatoes and yorkshire puds, with glazed carrots, mashed swede and thick wine based gravy served with Mustard and horseradish sauce. Then apple or cherry crumble with homemade custard or thick whipped cream.

Or Bangers n' mash with peas n' thick gravy.
One of my husbands many qualities is that he is a brilliant baker and cook so I get Raspberry Pavalova too!
And I definatly agree with you, TEA!! Lol! smile

Tea and meat pies. Mmmm meat pie!

I associate English food with home-y, comfort foods that my mom prepares, like Shepherd's Pie and roasts.

Steak and ale pie, and full English breakfast. I can't find anywhere here that does a nice English breakfast.

Oh Yeah! FULL, with Bacon, sausages, tomatoes, Kidneys, hash brown(recently added!) Fried bread, fried eggs, mushrooms n' toast? Yup, nothing beats that! There is a FABulous Cafe that does about 47 different versions down by our seafront smile smile smile

I always think of those books I've read about the weekends at the country home, the huge breakfast buffets with steak and kidney pie. Do people really eat kidney pie?

Also, cadbury's chocolate, of course and fish and chips!
