Parents, extended family and other adults may find that explaining what Down syndrome means, to children who have an entirely different perspective on the baby or child, can help in their own education and understanding. Our attitudes and beliefs can influence how others see our children. Modeling delight in and acceptance of a child with Down syndrome, just as we do with their mainstream peers, can speak louder than words.

If you have stories or advice to share with families and educators about how to talk to children about Down syndrome, please share them here.

Thanks a bunch!
