You know how sometimes driving around in traffic can be stressful... or if you're running late, or if the kids are fighting in the backseat.
What do you do to deal with driving stress?
I like books on CD. I'm so into what I'm listening to that I could care less, and am much more tolerant.

I also love the books on tape, or calming music like classical or jazz - it makes a lot of difference in the commute! I used to listen to Alternative music in the car but that did nothing to relax me, only aggravate the trip!

I used to find that too... that certain music would just feed my frustration. Angry music makes for angry drivers Just think... if angry music makes angry drivers, how does it affect the other aspects of our lives?

I find the less distractions the better. If I'm particularly frustrated or need to concentrate I shut off the radio, turn down the vent and ask who ever is in the vehicle to shush. I've been in two car accidents and am a bit paranoid about a third.
A side note the second accident I was in a car turned in front of me and turned out he had the same last name. How weird is that?

Wow, that is weird to get into an accident with someone who shares your last name.
I can definately understand your need to keep things quiet in the car sometimes. I agree, the less distractions, the better. That's why I'm so glad that the laws have changed so one can't drive and chat on the cell phone at the same time!

Really? I wish they had that law here. Seems like every second car has the driver on a cell phone. It scares me. (OMG - I'm complaining again!)

HA HA... well, it's definately something that warrants complaining, I think. Watching someone try to merge onto the freeway while chatting on the phone always bothers me. Or when they are on the freeway, but driving too slow. Yup, it's suppposedly a law here - but it's only enforceable if a policeman or highway patrol happen to see

I love books on tape but I also really like driving with silence so I can just let my mind wander and relax. I work on my stories in my head, working out new scenes or whatever. I don't tend to drive a lot any more, since I work from home, so I don't really get into traffic or stressful situations.

I love books on tape but on long drives they make DH sleepy. He likes to listen to Science stuff which is good for like an hour for me then makes me sleepy.

Oooh, something else I love to do; if I'm alone in the car and I'm working on a story or a song, I play it into my digital recorder (I have a tiny one). It's soooooo much fun! And I feel so creative - like I have my own reality show LOL!
