The first stage in our posting hierarchy here is the amoeba. What's your guess about what an amoeba looks like? I love amoebas

So that's the reason for the Amoeba byline! I have a degree in biology, so am very familar with the little guys. I look forward to evolving.

Ah but how would you describe an amoeba? You have another 11 posts to go before you become an amoeba!

A hand with a big finger?? I would describe it as a splatch of paint, with little "blobs" pushing out in various spots. There have of course to be little circles within the blob, to hold the various "internal organs" Any other ideas?

Good night! I'm still awake from last night. I'm a night owl I'm just wondering, are you sure you aren't thinking of a paramecium? I think a hand with a big finger - i.e. a long oval with one protrusion - isn't what an amoeba looks like to me. Or is that really how you imagine an amoeba, with one big pseudopod?

Amoeba does not carry a cell wall that's why there is no specific shape we can define for it.

Actually I have studied about Amoeba in my school, its a single cell, that too not fully developed. It does not have any specific shape. It keeps on changing its shape. The more interesting question here is why the first stage of our posting hierarchy in this forum is known as "amoeba". What does Jellyfish refers to? Please reply, if possible other terms also. I am very curious to know about all.

Kaycee - that's a good question. I've been wondering about that myself. It is built into the BellaOnline forum system, so maybe I can get some of the other editors to clue me in. When I do, I'll be sure to let you know!

Kaycee (and anybody else interested!), I checked the FAQ for the forums and found the answer, which I'm copying here below: "Everyone has a title within the forum. I think An amoeba is basically a glob of jelly looking material. It has no solid figures and just moves wherever it wants to without care. To reproduce, it just divides itself.
