I wonder which compost potatoes like?

My mother-in-law would grow her cucumbers on the tops of compost piles. She just used grass clippings, fine soil and some food scraps. She always had the best cucumbers around. I remember helping her to pickle them.

Potatoes like a rich well draining soil. They won't do well in a heavy clay like soil. They also like a sunny spot. Depending on whether you want new potatoes or a more mature crop for storage, it will take 2 to 4 months before they are ready to harvest. Good luck!

Thank you Sue - I will have to improve the clay soil then! All ideas welcome - will sand/kitchen waste do?

Adding organic matter will defintely help! It takes time, but the results will be worth it.
