I was readiing an article today in "Conceive Magazine" that I found interesting.

It was saying that the best places to recieve Assisted Reproductive Technology was in Connectitcut, New Jersey and Washington DC as these states have the highest concentration of ART clinics. It said that this coincides with insurance benefits as these states have mandatory infertility coverage, therefore making it easier to get help with infertility and creates a higher demand and supply of ART. Of course, these are also some of the smallest states.

The same article was also saying that Montana, Wyoming, West Virginia and Alaska were the worst places as there were very few ART clinics in these states. West Virginia was the only state that really surprised me as the others have such large rural and even uninhabited areas that it makes sense they would have very few if any infertility clinics.

Just an interesting tidbit, i thought.

Look at the population of those states -- when a state has that low a population, there are going to be far fewer ANYthing, really.

I would think in WV, people could go over to DC, though. When dh worked at the Pentagon, he said there were people who commuted from there.

luckily for me, Illinois is one of the few states that require infertility benefits to be treated as any other benefit regarding insurance. Meaning deductible and co insurance apply...
