Some people were discussing online some of the Superbowl commercials that they liked/didn't like- I don't know if anyone else here watched them but there was an E-Trade financial commercial with this talking baby who's discussing how he's buying and selling stocks and at the end of the commercial he starts "spitting up" all over the place.

My post commented how how I thought the commercial was classless and disgusting and that I don't want to see someone vomiting while I am trying to watch television especially when it's pretty likely that I'm going to be trying to enjoy a snack at the same time. This person wrote back saying she wasn't trying to start anything but a baby spitting up wasn't vomiting because it was natural and they do it all day long anyway, so it was different.

O M G ! Just because a baby does it all day long and it's completely natural does not a funny Superbowl commercial make it! Seriously, if you want to get into semantics "spitting up" is considered vomiting according to everything except "Mommy Books" and parenting websites who try to make everything sound nicer and more tolerable than it really is. If they said "Your baby will vomit on you multiple times a day for months at a time" who would go for that?! Seriously! So they call it "spitting up" because spitting sounds so much nicer and more PC.

I don't care what it is, it's still disgusting and I don't want to put food in my mouth when I'm watching a baby (or anyone else) expel something out of their mouth that was already in their stomach. Why does she feel the need to argue and make it out like I'm the intolerant one??!?!

That commercial was absolutely disgusting and shouldn't have been aired, particularly during a show where they KNEW people were eating. An adult taking a dump is natural too, but you don't show it on TV.

Kiki, you are absolutely correct and I totally understand your frustration at the troll.

I did enjoy watching the terminator and the metal football guy fighting, though. That was my favorite part of the game. (I'm a fan of the Sarah Connor Chronicles. I love Summer!)

What an icky commercial. I can't blame you for saying something, and I totally understand. I didn't see the commercial myself, and from the sound of it, I'm glad I didn't.

I guess it had some comedic appeal to parents, since they apparently become numb to disgusting bodily functions as long as it's their maturated sperm who's doing it.

The fact is, that commercial was pretty unoriginal because the talking baby thing has been done to death, and it shouldn't have aired for that reason alone, but the puking part? Gross. Seriously - I'm less grossed out by the ED drug commercials than I am by someone puking, and those ED commercials are pretty annoying, that's for sure.

I totally understand where you're coming from Kiki, and I'm glad that we have a place like this forum to vent about such things! smile

My husband and I both screamed "EEWWWW" right when that commercial aired. We were both eating finger foods and were completely discusted. It was not neccessary to the commercial either.

I thought all of the commercials were lame this year and they spent millions to air them.

I agree with Tress when the most enjoyable thing was the Terminator robot fighting the NFL robot.

It's a shame because this is the only time of year that I look forward to the commercials and I was sadly disappointed in them.

I agree with Vance too--they were overall pretty lame commercials this year!

Yuck. What a revolting advertisement. It should come with some sort of a warning. I've never been a fan of the talking baby/animal thing (I don't find it cute, merely very cringeful), and the combination of that and the vomiting... Who on earth came up with the idea?
