I am white with long brown hair. I used Soft and Beautiful relaxer kit on my hair three days ago. My hair is defiantly straight but it feels awful. When I get my hair wet it mats up terribly. After conditioning and blow drying it feels better but not normal. Is it possible to strip this chemical from my hair?

Sounds like you need deep conditioning rather than a stripper. When my hair feels course and damaged and I'm in a hurry (as I usually am) I've had good luck with a conditioner called the Three Minute Miracle. If you have more time, you can get other treatments that help to restore the hair shaft that the chemicals in the relaxer kit broke down.

Thanks. I will try to condition it again. Is it possible to reverse the relaxer?

Reverse it? Are you asking whether you can get the curl back into your hair that the relaxer took out or if you can reverse the damage?

The only way that I know to get the curl back would be to get a permanent wave. This would put your hair through yet another chemical process and this would only cause more damage.

My hair is getting better. I conditioned it again. I don't mind the straightness of my hair I just don't like the feel of it. I am going to try to stop by a store today and get the conditioner you mentioned. It is so nice not to have to blow my hair for an hour to get it straight. This morning I was finished with my hair in less than 15 minutes.
One more question. I usually blow my hair straight and then put in big curls at the end with a curling iron. Today, my hair is not holding the curl as much. What should I use besides hairspray to hold the curl?

I went to the store yesterday to get the conditioner. I could not find it. Do you know the manufacturer?
I ended up buying another kind of conditioner. My hair seems to be getting better with every condition but it still is not a normal texture. After washing and conditioning my hair so much, it looks like some curl is coming back! Is that normal? I did not blow dry it after conditioning it last night and now it looks like I just put the relaxer on the ends of my hair!

Your hair will not ever feel 'normal' after any chemical process. It will feel processed. Your hair will have the chemical process in it until that hair is cut off. Conditioners help to keep it soft and manageable.

Your ends are straighter because they were more porous (and older) than the rest of your hair so the chemicals worked better there.
I don't recommend ever trying to perm your hair to get curl again as it will further damage it. Curling with a curling iron is often harder to do after hair has been relaxed. Sometimes a wet set with rollers works.

A perm was never an option. I liked the straightness. I am just not happy with the texture.
Thanks for the advise about a wet roller set. I will try that tonight!
