These two weeks I've been covering some warm-up routines that one could use before stepping out onto the Training Floor.

Obviously, this by no means covers all of them and I plan to cover more routines in the future.

But I'm curious if any folks here have favorites that they like to use. Please feel free to share here.

A warm up is usually performed before participating in (technical) sports or exercising. A warm up generally consists of a gradual increase in intensity in physical activity. For example, before running or playing an intense sport one might slowly jog to warm muscles and increase heart rate. It is important that warm ups should be specific to the exercise that will follow, which means that exercises(of warm up) should prepare the muscles to be used and to activate the energy systems that are required for that particular activity. The risks and benefits of combining stretching with warming up are mixed and in some cases disputed. Warming up prepares your body mentally & physically.

Good luck! smile

Thank you Dubois. I was more curious if people had favorite ones they liked to perform before doing Martial Arts. Martial Arts uses almost every part of the body which is why there's a plethora of options available as to what sort of warm-ups people like to do.

Do you have a favorite one?

I actually love doing some basic Yoga. The Sun Salutation I had learned from a local Yoga teacher at one of the gyms really does wonders to warm me up.

I do a bit of Yoga, too, and I did a bit of Taekwondo as well. We usually warm up with stretches.
