I want to start a diet plan so I can stay healthier, but I don't know how to go about it. If you can give me a link or some help that would be awesome. Thanks

My health and wellness website is written with the beginner in mind. Someone who wants to make simple lasting changes that make a big difference.

Some simple things to do:

Clean out your pantry and frig of all processed and sugary foods.

Buy lots of fruits and veggies, wash them and keep them handy to use for meals and snacks.

Pack healthy snacks to take to work with you or keep when you're away from home.

Cut out sugar and learn to read labels. You'll be amazed at what you'll find in processed foods.

Get plenty of sleep and exercise every day.

You can add small changes as you go. Break bad habits and replace them with good habits.

You can do it!

Hi Sam,

I started trying to exercies a bit more, just by doing bigger stretches when hanging out the washing, walking up the stairs quicker or running them.

When on the phone I use a cordless one and just walk around the yard, or up and down a step.

Stand up from the computer and stretch out, it all makes a difference and it's amazing how much better you feel and more inclined to do a little bit more each day.

Go for it, your life tomorrow depends on what you eat and how much you exercise today.

Rachel, you're so right that small changes add up. Exercise and good nutrition are both things that we can work on every day to build new, better habits of living.

I've read that anywhere from 70% to a whopping 90% of so-called age related diseases are in our control. If we do all the basic things, cut sugar and processed foods, eat more fruits and veggies, get enough sleep and exercise, we can even overcome genetics as a factor.

It's a real possibility these days that many of us will live into our 90's. How we feel when we get there (and all the years between) is in large part due to the choices we make each and every day.

So next time you reach for that bag of chips or a fast food burger, try an apple, some homemade granola or a lean turkey sandwich on whole grain bread instead.
