This is interesting...alludes to the fact that men are immature if they don't want kids. Because, of course, the only thing a mature adult can do with their life is reproduce.

Couldn't possibly be that er, you just don't want kids, might not be suitable to be a parent (kudos to those who can recognize it in time!) or are concerned about the fact that this planet is over loaded with humans as it is, and we simply don't NEED any more people, and in fact need them to back off.

I hear ya! It's a really dated mentality, but it's still alive and well. I don't know why it's tied to maturity. My DH and I are much more financially responsible than so many of the parents we know. Having kids you can't afford, now THAT's mature. I want to get in on that.

I think it's immature and irresponsible to bring forth something that relies utterly on you before you have your own [censored] sorted out, and how many people do you know that have issues and they still have kids anyway? I nearly threw something at the t.v. the other day when this anorexic woman was on Dr. Phil. Yeah, her kids have a GREAT chance of making it to adulthood without being scarred in some way and most likely anorexic themselves. :P

Funny here all the immature guys want to get their girl pregnant so they can live off the goverment. You know, I probly run that fact into the ground, but when it is rubed in your face day in and day out it is hard not to feel [censored] off. I mean, when the financial advicer at your college tells you to comeback when your pregnant and apply...or when your dr tells you that he would sugest you get pregnant so you could get help with medical stuff but your not healthy enough to have a baby... or when the AH UM next door has a brand new car and fancy cloths and all of her kids are begging me for food! Oh And they are all minoritys just because she gets more from (((you guessed it))) THE GOVERMENT! and she has one on the way that she is not sure if it will be black mexican or white or something different! but she hopes its not white because then she dont get as much help...
she told me that fun fact today!!! Not that I wanted to know...

I think it should be that mature men DO NOT WANT babies!!! I mean come on It they men would wise up and grow up we would be in alot better shape! I am so tired of hearing all about how men dont take responciblity for there donation in the baby making process and how the poor girl has to do all the work. You know what? if the Bit@# didnt want the baby all she has to do is pop a pill, use a comdom, spermside, the sponge, a diaphriam, IUD, film, form, inserts...Did I leave anything out? The truth is how many of these guy where told that said girl was on the pill or whatever took her at her word and then was traped by this woman?

the guy now has to pay $$$ to support a kid HE never wanted to begain with and she is getting all the sympathy and support! oh and not to mention the guy is tied to the b!t@# for the rest of his life!

What is really bad is now there is a kid that knows he or she is just a pay check, mom is a sympathy money whore and dad just dont give a $#!T.

(this rant does not apply to the moms and daddies out there that married and or otherwise planed to have kids and a happy family where the goverment benifits was not part of the family planing/ and it also doesnt imply that I think all mixed race babys are evil or even mixed race couples...I am just saying that there are a lot more people out there that think more babys = pay check for free and the more money they get the better!)

Since when is a young-ish guy who enjoys his life as it is, filled with work, hobbies, and friends, a big kid? Huh? Articles like that make me wonder if we're all hallucinating and only imagined that marriage and children are a choice. In other words, I feel like the CF movement takes a step backwards every time I read something like that.

i think it takes a high level of maturity for a man or woman to realize and decide that they don't want kids. my hubby is a scientist and i certainly wouldn't consider him immature. he moved to another country giving up basically everything to be with me which again to me requires a lot of maturity. that person who wrote that article has a very narrow opinion of maturity. i've heard that argument before even from one of my own friends. she has two kids so i her opinion is a little skewed. she never said anything like it to my hubby or myself but she has said it about her brother who doesnt' want to get married or have kids. she considers him immmature. i just don't say anything.

just yesterday my co-worker was complaining about her hubby and how she gets up at 6am to get her 3 kids ready for school while her hubby who works at home is still sleeeping. then he was complaining that she was going to go work out at the gym before picking up her daughter from pre-k. she was so mad and told him that that's the only time she has to herself.she's really nice and i really feel bad for her.she also has a one yr. old who i watch when she comes to work out. i think that if anyone is immature it's her hubby.i mean to me unfortunately, many dads are like her hubby and seem to like the idea of fatherhood but don't put in the time and effort required and act immature! i mean sleeping in and expecting your wife to do it all well i'll tell you if that was me he would have a rude awakening!

I am an only child, and do you know I've probably received as much criticism/comments about being an only child as I have for being CF? Everyone feels sorry for me. People say I don't know how to socialize (oh, these are people who don't know me.) I can't share. I'm selfish. Blah blah blah.

I think having one kid is JUST FINE. I LIKED being an only child!

(Oh, I'm my mom's only child. I only lived with my half sister from my dad half time until I was 4, then barely saw her after that.)

Also, being mature has NOTHING to do with wanting or having kids. I know some VERY immature men who have kids. I know some very immature women who have kids. It doesn't matter. It doesn't take a genius to have kids, nor does it take a mature adult. It takes biology. Open legs, have sex, pop out kid 9 months later.

The thing I don't understand is how people don't think you are "grown up" because you don't have kids. As far as being "childlike", I love watching the old Looney Tunes! So I don't get off on what most people call "entertainment" nowadays, so what? If me wanting to hark back and have a good hearty laugh at Bugs Bunny blowing Taz up with a wild turkey surprise, so be it! I am a child at heart. My friends are, ultimately, the same way, whether they have children or not, irregardless of their physical age!

Take away the child-like desire to have fun, and you have the "old disgruntled" mature person. I won't be that person and you can't make me -- no way!

If people don't see me as an adult for not having kids, I have one thing to say to them:

Those people don't pay for the roof over my head, they don't set my curfews, they don't pay for my food, and, last time I checked, I wasn't hurting anyone. I'm having fun, so let me play in my own sandbox
