Soy milk has been my replacement for dairy for the past several years as I am milk intolerant. Recently, I had my thyroid tested and found out I have a low-functioning thyroid and need hormone replacement. My ND told me that I would need to reduce my soy intake to no more than two servings a day as more would reduce the effectiveness of the hormone replacements. I am now wondering if my three-to-four servings of soy a day in the past may have contributed in some way to my thyroid problems. Does anyone have any insight on this topic?
I've heard the same thing, Sheree, but don't have thyroid issues.
Are you switching to rice or almond milk or something else? I use soy milk, but not ever even two servings a day--more like two or three a week, usually in a breakfast shake (or edamame!)
