Why would you apologize if you don't think you are wrong?

According to the dictionary, the definition of sorry (an adj.) is: Feeling or expressing sympathy, pity, or regret
I didn't do anything wrong. I was "expressing sympathy" for a person who stuck their foot in their mouth and had received alot of negative criticism.

Sue, I was not apologizing (definition: apology n. , pl. -gies . An acknowledgment expressing regret) because as I said before, I did nothing wrong, instead I was offering sympathy.

Maybe you should stop responding on delicate topics if you are too tired or emotional, huh? wink

Why is that?
Parents going on a childfree board and criticizing is not a good idea because CF people tend to support each other vehemently. (definition: vehement (vē′ə mənt) adjective acting or moving with great force; violent; impetuous/ having or characterized by intense feeling or strong passion; fervent, impassioned, etc.) Many are quite thin skinned about parent's comments, especially if the remarks are considered rude.

Anyway, sorry you got so much response. Keep in mind what I said, take it for what it is worth.
So, Carennedy, I was trying to offer my sympathy for getting so much negative attention BUT since this is a discussion on 3 ways to handle criticism, I was offering 1 of my 3: take it for what it is worth.

Now, who else can give 3 highly effective tips to handle criticism? smile

1. Say sorry.

2. Promise to look into the issue.

3. Look in to the issue.
