About a month ago I bought one of those lucky Chinese bamboo stalks. I can't believe how quickly it is growing, but it is only growing at the very top. Is there something I can do to get leaves to shoot from the lower nodules?

Well Vannie, you could cut off that top bud, try a little diluted fertilizer, or leave it be.

'Lucky Bamboo' is a stylized look. It actually is dracaena stalk that has all the leaves stripped off and a new top allowed to start. And if you have ever seen a dracaena with its leaves still on you will know that it is not a branching type plant, so that one leafy spring is probably all you are going to get from your lucky bamboo. Sorry =/

Hi Guys,

I know that I am late in saying thank you for your information. I apologize. Wendy I love your your house plants site. Years ago, I had dozens of plants, now I am starting from scratch and visiting your site often for guidance. Keep up the good work.

By the way my plant is coming along nicely, I decided to leave it be--it is straight as an arrow and still growing (smiling).
