Lemon is the most important among the many home remedies for common cold. It is beneficial in all types of cold with fever. Vitamin C-rich lemon juice increases body resistance, decreases toxicity and reduces the duration of the illness. One lemon should be diluted in a glass of warm water, and a teaspoon of honey should be added to it This should be taken once or twice daily.

I use this recipe whenever I feel a cold coming on:

Warm lemonade:

1 cup hot water
Squeeze in the juice of 2 lemons
Honey to taste
2 dashes of cayenne pepper

Drink several times a day until your cold is gone or you have averted it.

It always works for me. I also put lemon in my tea quite often.

I drink half a lemon full of juice per day. I drink it straight, then follow with water (as the acid will damage your enamel if left too long). I give my stomach 1/2 hour to digest and utilize it, then I'll make a healthy breakfast.

I also love tea and the healing powers of lemon and cayenne. Anyone use agave nectar in their teas?

Yes, I do use agave as a sweetener as it's one natural sugar that doesn't rapidly raise you blood sugar and is low on the glycemic index.
