That is the same with Christians. We do not need to go to a special place or Jerusalem to be closer with God. We just need a quiet place within ourselves to commune with the Lord and to pray.

We do not need to go to a mountain top to be close to God, in fact, when we are down on our knees, that is when we are closest to God.

Don't you agree Vance, that meditation is a wonderful way of uniting Minds?
It is cross-denominational...No religion is needed, no God or not-God, no sense of worship... Just a still calmness...
Whilst I commend the deep and boundless sense of Closeness this brings to whatever-way-one-may-worship, Meditation in itself requires no devotion, no praise, no Spiritulity as such from anyone...although it in turn can do much to improve those states....

I share that which I have merely learnt and works for me... I cannot nor ever would claim credit. That goes to my Sources of Knowledge.
But I am delighted to share, and hope it helps, and thank you for your generous words.

Silentspace, do you think you have enough here to help you in trying meditation in one way or another?

What do you plan to do, now? smile

Alexandra, its nice of u to return and share lots of things you know.
I do meditation. One of them is
imagine 3 buckets in front of u.one for the past, one for the present and another for the future.Close ur eyes and sit still trying to keep your mind on the now.Thoughts come in.Categorise them into present, past and future. In sometime no more thoughts come in and u feel absolutely calm.as though u have settled ur troubles.

i just read Thich Naet Hanh's Peace is every ste and it mentioned abt meditation in everthing u do.Its amazingly beautiful.I now understand what it means to do walking meditation.dont u feel so absorbed into the sky,the flowers and all when u watch it with love....dont u feel like floating away and blend into them.....
I liked the breath in and breath out exercise best though.Somethn one can do each and every moment :-)
