Hi,

Does anyone have any suggestions as to a good silk thread to use for tatting, preferably one that is fairly easy to source in Australia. I have used the Gutermann silk thread but it is just a little too fine for the work I have in mind. Your ideas would be appreciated. - Buzby

Julie,

Many thanks for the info, I had completely forgotten about the Kreinik products. Had a look at the website you recommended and found KV4 was recommended for tatting and a few other silk threads for lace making.

July,

I don't want to discourage you or suggest you leave. Not by any means. I'm most grateful that you were able to jump in there and offer a wonderful suggestion to one of my forum members.

I'm just curous about something. You don't tat??? How did you find your way into our forum? LOL

Again, please don't think that I'm suggesting that you leave. That's not the case at all. I was just surprised to find that you don't tat, yet here you are AND you gave a helping hand. Thanks for that, also!!!

So how is it that you come to be in the tatting forum? I have a childhood friend, who doesn't tat, but she looks up tatting patterns for her sister. Is your case similar?

Hi Beverly -

I do all sorts of needle arts, and while I don't tat, I'm interested in it and occasionally read the forum. There's all sorts of overlap between different types of needlework and I find it worthwhile to talk with people who do types that I don't. I also collect old stitchery implements, so it helps me know what things are when I run into them at the thrift store.

Julie
