This week's feature is Tamar - A Woman of the Bible This story sounds like it came right out of the Soaps. It proves that Bible people were far from perfect.
I enjoyed your account of Tamar's life. I've always found her intriguing. In a women's Bible study I gave recently she was one of our "stars."
I do have one question about her story: Her father-in-law was determined to have her stoned for her adultery. I had always assumed that decision was based on the Mosaic law, but on closer study I realized this incident preceded the giving of the law. On whose code or law was Judah basing his intended actions?
That's a good question. One that I don't know the answer to. I don't think prostitution was ever approved of in the Jewish community. Even though Judah 'visited' one, he was indignant that his daughter-in-law might have been one.
