I picked up several products the other day at the market and studied the ingredients labels to decide if the food items contained any wheat. I have a food intolerance to wheat. One of the products, a cereal, clearly stated "Contains wheat and soy ingredients." That makes sense as the product was a cereal. The next item was a salad dressing. The statement "Contains...." was not displayed. However, in checking the actual ingredients list it was obvious the dressing contained wheat additives. It seems to me it's still "hit or miss" on whether the labels on products are going to save you some time by indicating boldly whether they contain one of the major food allergens (soy, wheat, eggs peanuts, nut, etc.). How extensive do you think the labeling should be? From my experience, wheat, egg, dairy and soy products are in just about everything. But still do we have to read the whole cotton-picken label everytime to find out.
