I'd be interested in hearing if any of you believe you can also be the "victim" of people wishing you bad luck. And if so, when this happens, what can be done about it?

I think all of us can be influenced to a greater or lesser degree by what others wish for us.

When my marriage broke up, my ex blamed me for ruining his life. He wrote songs blaming me, and played them next door for months so that i would have to constantly hear it. He slandered me to our friends, and then they wouldn't talk to me. This situation would throw most people off a feeling of good luck, particularly when divorce is a loss for anyone.

I don't believe in hexes or curses in the usual sense, but i know that being the target of animosity and blame can get to us. If we're depressed, it's hard to have the energy and attitude that generates good luck.

I don't know what can be done about it Barbara. What i did in that situation was: i tried to ignore the music next door, by playing my own (but i still got very upset), and i tried to do things for myself anyway... like apply for better jobs and just basically carry on. I would also like to know what kinds of things can be done about others wishing us evil.

I don't believe in luck, I do believe in faith. luck has nothing to do with it.

This is common Barbara. In India we believe and most of us have known first hand the results of jealousy by others. We hang a lemon threaded outside our home for that.

I want to develop a habit of finding good luck in EVERY day.

We were talking in the other thread, (Love and Luck), about keeping a Luck Journal.

What can we find that is lucky today?

I didn't have a very eventful day. I had TWO students show up for class today with broken arms. Considering i teach knitting and they STILL showed up, I'll consider this flattery. I guess it is lucky it didn't happen to me. They are both named Kathy, too... hahahhaa!

I'm in a better mood today, too. That may not be "luck," but it's certainly welcome.

What about the rest of you?

Today as I was packing, clutter and all, to move when a new location is found, I came across a picture I had given up any hope of ever finding. It is a pix of me and my dad being silly. As it turned out, the pix was taken only days prior to his official determination of terminal lung cancer. For whatever reason, luck, fate, etc., I feel like I won the lottery!

Today at the store there were many visitors because parents are dropping the freshmen off at college. I love talking to people and being friendly, and one of the people i met today was so thrilled she is going to get private lessons each time she visits her daughter, and she will be ordering yarn at the store (a large purchase).

Talking to strangers and just being friendly often brings good luck.
