Your spa experience at Willow Stream Spa sounds fantastic. I'm like you, I hate those flip flops with the toe thong, ouch, they hurt!

Banff is only one of the legendary places to see in te Canadian Rockies -- Lake Louise is gorgeous (with another fine old grand hotel), and Jasper is a sweet little town with a traditional lodge surrounded by log cabins. Stay tuned!

The Faremont Hotels are almost always top of the range - and the Banff springs no exception. A highly recommended hotel.

Hi traveller840 -- Welcome to Luxury Travel's forum! If you know Fairmont Hotels, you're clearly not new to luxury travel, though. I have a Life List of the historic Canadian Pacific hotels (now Fairmont) like birders have a Life List of bird species spotted!

I've stayed at a number, but have a few to go. Hard to say which are my favorites, though, since each has its charms. I love the Algonquin, in St. Andrews, New Brunswick, which was the first I stayed in and one I go back to regularly. But tea at the Empress in Victoria, the view from Chateau Lake Louise, the history and setting of Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City -- all incomparable experiences.
