Hi Kathy - it's Chel from Pop Music. Great article.
When do fans go too far. I am an avid fan of Clay Aiken's and I know that many times his fans have also crossed the line. They have camped in the front yard of his mother and even dug up some of her grass as memory keepers. They have knocked on her door at midnight asking if she knew where he was or wanting an autograph.
Clay lives in Raleigh in a gated community now, so we don't hear too much about his privacy home issues. However, while greeting fans, he has been licked on the neck, fondled, grabbed, pinched, and his hair tugged.
The word fan does stand for fanatic, and how far is too far. I am grateful that Clay and others do meet with their fans and talk with them, however, they are people, just like me and I wouldn't want to be man or woman handled by anyone. It's not fair, there is a private space issue. On the same note, I don't want these celebrities to hide behind a glass curtain.
I think Faith was right, some fans need some class.
