I heard there was a big shake-up with squidoo recently and it's articles banned from the search engines. Does anyone have info on this?

haven't heard anything about that. I thought squidoo was cool when i first made my pages there. I make just as much if not more from affliate links here at BellaOnline and my other websites. why would search engines cut squidoo off?

In the last newsletter, Squidoo said someone had hacked the site and made an awful mess. They have fixed it, but the search engines are slow to fix their end of things. My traffic is still up, but my lenses are so weird that I think I am OK.

Jeannette, try putting some pictures, more modules on your site. Add something from youtube or flickr or both. Or even put up more sites that are more specialized. Like you have, one on yourself, but also one on Domestic Violence and feature some of your articles and your story, maybe some of the treatment plans for offenders, like the Minnesota plan or there may be new ones by now.

Squidoo has become quite popular recently. Google indexes it very quickly.

I have a few Squid sites. I'm always making changes and they do come very quickly in the search index. I think it's a good additional to your existing sitees.

People signing up & posting spam squidoo lenses are what caused trouble with certain search engines. Seth Godin has the influence to get it fixed quickly, though.

I've got a few others, too, still in progress. I went squidoo happy for a while! I've got such an eclectic set of interests, that building micro sites about everything really works for me.

Squidoo is now changing algorithms, we don't know when. Glad for it.

The new Squidoo algorithms are great. No more need to update every 2 days.

what is Squidoo? I have heard a lot about it

yes i think Squidoo is back on the rise again. Seth has done alot to straighten up that awful mess the spammers and hackers created. there are so many good lenses on squidoo, and so many folks put in alot of work to create them and upkeep them, it'd be a shame if a few idiots ruined it all. personally i LOVE squidoo!

Squidoo is a social networking place, lots of nice folks, plus a great way to "soft sell" your business, whether you sell services, info or goods. you can join groups, create a lens and really do a great deal to get yourself and your business "out there". You really should try it.

I think it must be quite difficult to come up with a formula that keeps spam down. Spammers are endlessly inventive. And I read somewhere that Squidoo doesnt have a lot of staff which must make it harder to keep up.

I'm happy to hear that you don't have to update Squidoo every two days anymore. I'm not real good about updating it often, but I do have the RSS feed from my blog as one of my modules, so it gets updated several times per week from that. Don't know if that makes a difference or not.

I have been struggling whether or not to participate in squidoo for exposures. Seems like it requires a high amount of commitment to make it work, not sure that's what I can cope with for now. I always feel a productive blogger (2-3 posts a day) will have an edge over this service, if quality is no question for him/her. Some opinions? How would you compare guest posting vs. squidoo instead, despite of the traffic differences, that is? Is it similar to article marketing?

I've been using Squidoo for more than a year now and the results are great. I learned a lot from the lensmaster regarding what category it is.
