Has anyone read any of the "Conversations with God" books?
I love the series, and I haven't read it in a while. But the author starts writing questions to "God" and starts getting answers through his thoughts. It's definitely more of a spiritual exploration than religious.
Anyway, the God figure explains that in an ideal situation, a young person would give birth to children, and the grandparents would raise them because they have more life experience and knowledge, and are better equipped to raise children.
I just think it's interesting, given people are having babies later in life now. And, a lot of grandparents seem to be raising their grandkids. At least, in my crazy neighborhood.
