The first century Christian church. It appears from Roman historians that they referred to them as "Christians" in the first century. So did the Jewish historian Josepheus.

Yeah but you have to be careful with what you read in Wikipedia because anybody can write anything on any subject without verification from other sources.

I like to use Wikipedia, too. Amadeus is correct about some of the facts can be erroneous or irregular, but most of that has been found to be true about current events or current people & stars and not history.

It never hurts to double check another source, like Britannica, which basically says the same info.

"Christianity -- Encyclopaedia Britannica
... of Jesus of Nazareth (the Christ, or the Anointed One of God) in the 1st century"

Chronology of Christianity
From 1 AD to present.www.cwo.com/~pentrack/catholic/chron.html -
Christianity - Hindu Customs in the Christian Community in India
... to have introduced Christianity into India around the 1st century of our era. www.hindubooks.org/sudheer_birodkar/hindu_history/christianity.html

I love what you say, because I believe the same and I think that it makes sense for us to follow HIM and to be "CHRIST" like, as we are Christians! I really think that is where the word first got started, when the disciples, who were jews, listened to Christ and followed him. They turned against many of the "old" jewish ways to be one with Christ. During the whole life of Jesus, He taught about inclusion: rich, poor, leppers, jewish, gentiles, all were included. All who heard Him and believed, wanted to be like Him, like Christ: Christ-like or Christian. It started right after Christ started his teachings, 1 AD. wink

God bless you! smile

(Christian)
occurs 2 times in 2 verses in the KJV
Page 1 / 1 (Act 26:28 - 1Pe 4:16)
Act 26:28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.
1Pe 4:16 Yet if [any man suffer] as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

these are the only two veruses in the KJV of the Bible that have Christian in them!!!

I believe Christ calls us to be Christ-like which = Christian tho

Absolutely so, Amadeus, I completely agree... and sometimes things do slip through the net, so the advice to NOT take the articles as absolute is good.
However, Wiki does have a strong and plentiful team of editors, censors and proof-readers who work very hard to ensure that there is as little corruption as possible. I often open pages with a caveat, or a disclaimer at the top, warning about content or source. It's always as well to do numerous searches on any subject though, to broaden your own personal knowledge base, but for the most part, contributors are fairly up-front and sincere...

Hey, by the way, get this - Did you know the earth is ROUND??! Wow.... and all these years.....! laugh laugh

So who was the founder of Christianity? Did Jesus do that? Or it was founded after he left?

mmm Jesus had 12 disciples and told them to Go forth and make disciples in Jesus name. Peter is considered the 1st preacher-missionary by the Catholic Church where as Protestant's claim Paul because Paul fought for and Preached to the Gentiles also... and we are all Gentiles unless You are a Jew! so Jesus gave the first order and gets the Credit because He is the Head of the church and the example!

Does that make since?
