I am doing a seminar on college-educated women married to blue collar men. How good is the relationship, etc.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Kristin,
Feel free to ask me speciic questions, too.
I find that the familial upbringing is quite different, from the sports you played as a kid, HOW you saved, a lack of mutual interests beyond the surface level (i.e., music).
There can be a vast socio-culture divide that may not be evident during the early dating/marraige years when love is in full bloom. Once you get beyond that, and esp. once children come along, some of the differences are actually vast divides.

Ah..but our upbringing was about the same in terms of social class. When I was thinking "blue collar" I was thinking in terms of college vs. no college (manual labor type job). Hubby has no college and I've got a master's degree...

So yeah..I'd be willing to answer more specific questions about it. Maybe I'm not understanding what Kristen is going to be talking about at her seminar

Thank you both for responding!

The questions are so NOT meant to insult anyone, so please bear this in mind. I was asked to do this seminar, so here goes...

Being college educated yourself, what attracted you to your spouse who wasn't?

Do you find that there are some topics you can't share because you are better educated? (not that education has anything to do with intelligence)

Does it bother you that your husband "works with his hands?"

If you had to do this all over again, would you marry him or someone with a college degree?

Is a cultural event a problem? (museums, art, historical places, poetry, literature, etc.)

More questions to come. I'm writing this on another computer and my notes are at home.
