Hi Engee--

The Ganoderma mushroom also goes by the names "Lingzhi" and "Reishi." Following is some information on how to prepare this fresh mushroom:

"Lingzhi is traditionally prepared by boiling in water. Thinly sliced or pulverized lingzhi (either fresh or dried) is added to a pot of boiling water, the water is then brought to a simmer, and the pot is covered; the lingzhi is then simmered for two hours. The resulting liquid should be fairly bitter in taste. The process may be repeated. Alternatively, it can be used as an ingredient in soup."

You can also buy this mushroom in many different forms. I personally use Reishi extract for it's wonderful health benefits, and make a tea from it.

The following link will take you to the tea recipe which also has a link to the Reishi extract I use.

Hi Engee--

If you are using dry lingzhi then you need to soak it first to let it rehydrate. If you are using the fresh mushroom itself, just clean it by wiping it with a dry cloth. Then cut it into slices, add it to your soup and boil on low for about 2 to 3 hours.
