However, could I just point out that this is an idiocy practised by a school, but is not endorsed by the Department of Education....

Political Correctness is all very well, but when it leads to cretinous reactions like this, it beggars belief....

To avoid subjects that may invite negative comments is far fetched. That way slowly all the history books will be left with plain pages.

They should then stop teaching about the British occupation of India. That may increase hatred between indians and the english. This is ridiculous.

Forgive me, my grey matter was not warmed up yet. I meant to say the descendants of these people.

The Jews were not the first to be targeted. And I wonder how anyone can still even deny the Holocaust?

Its amazing how many people starved themselves to near death and in fact to death for those videos - and amazing how the ash that still coats those infamous "ovens" has been tested and is infact human remains..and amazing how You have both the surivors (a few of which who are still here to share the story and show a number on their arm) and even the nazi's (some who are still facing punishment for there war crimes) are all agreeing on this same story - good thing it never really happened though...

We talk a lot about the Holocaust, but rarely are the barbarically gruesome atrocities committed by the Japanese Imperial Army discussed. The actions of the Japanese Army against the Chinese people and Allied POWs was extremely violent. When the Japanese conquered the Chinese city of Nanking in late 1937 they raped and butchered the civilian population of the city. Every female from age 8 to 80 was a potential victim of rape. Japanese soldiers even raped pregnant woman. Many of the women they raped were butchered after they were raped. Captured Chinese soldiers were used for Live bayonet practice. Many others were machine gunned to death and their bodies dumbed into the Yangtzee River.

Before the Allied could capture a Japanese POW camp the Japanese had the American soldiers placed into a trench. They filled the trench with gasoline and set it on fire. They burned all the POWs to death and shot dead any that tried to escape.

Why are the atrocities committed by the Japanese never taught in school. Why do we only concentrate on the Holocaust and the Atomic bombing of Hiroshima? Why not also discuss the Aliied fire bombingd of Dresden and Tokyo? By what we often teach in school students might think the Holocaust was the Only atrocity committed during World War II.

Yes, japanese committed many atrocities. No doubt about that.
That should also be taught.

Could I just say that these things - and more - have been not only taught in History in the UK, but there have been some excellent series, dramas and documentaries broadcast in the UK dealing with such matters as the deprotation to Canada and australia of children, to be put into what amounts to slavery, by the Catholic church. The Inhuman treatment of indians by the British, during the days of the colony. The terrible treatment of both men and women by the Japanese during WWII.... all these topics have been aired and discussed in schools, colleges and universities. they form an intrinsic part of history, as taught over here.
