Having lots of toys is one way to make sure your bird is going to be busy when you're not there - but don't overload the cage with toys. Hopefully you'll have a large enough cage for a few toys and then have some extras. Every few days, take one or two of the toys out & put in a new one or two, so the choice of toys is constantly changing. The ones you took out, will go back in again when its time to take out more. So, if you have 10 toys, you can put in 4 & then keep them changing all the time.
You can also leave a radio on sometimes. If someone is at home when you're at school, it would be nice if he/she would drop by to say hello to your bird a few times too - but if no one is home, he will be fine anyway. Hopefully you will be able to spend time with your bird every day, but you certainly don't have to spend the whole day with him.
Good luck & have fun with your new bird. Plese drop by once you have him to let us know how things are going.
