How many here have cockatoos? Don't tell me I'm the lone Moluccan owner of the bunch!

No cockatoos here, but I'd love to hear about yours.

I have a 5 year old boy named Mickey Mouse. He's a Moluccan, very beautiful and somewhat loud.

He's a recycled bird - a coworker of mine owned him from the time he was still being hand fed until about a month ago. Mickey was her daughters bird, but after she moved out of the house Mickey became impossible to handle.

Along with that, the family that had him had several recent tragedies that have kept them away for long periods of time.

All of this together made things VERY rough for Mickey so they decided to try to rehome him.

He took to me almost right away though we have had some rough times together.

Still, he's a wonderful boy!

One of his feet is deformed. When he was a baby he got tangled in a hanging toy and he lost all but two of his toes. This doesnt slow him down much, though!

LOL - I don't think I've ever heard of a Moluccan that is "somewhat" loud. They're usually just plain loud - but they are also such sweethearts that you can't help but fall in love with them. Your Mickey Mouse sounds like he really is a sweetheart though & I'm so glad that you were able to give him a good home.
