Hi Lauren! I get a catalog about skin care, I guess when we turn 50 an alert goes off somewhere and this kind of mail starts arriving. For Mature Skin, I believe! wink
It is called Tourmaline Pack, and it will make skin look radiant and recharged.
I thought you might want to look into this, strictly from a gemstone point (hee hee).

Thanks for that Firefly. I haven't come across actual gems in creams before. Not sure how it would work!

Here's what they say about it in the blurb
"Be a gem. DHC Tourmaline Pack uses the naturally energizing potency of tourmalines. Micro-fine particles of this precious gem delve deep down into pores to absorb imbedded dirt and impurities. The result is improved clarity and renewal. Help find relief from the skin-damaged look of UV rays, dryness, stress, and environmental pollution. Get ready to amp up your complexion with this vibrancy-evoking mask."

I don't know if I want bits of stone in my pores...

You could make your own gem cream by making an essence of the gemstone & adding it to a basic face cream. Not abrasive, but it would contain the properties of the stone.

I'm expecting the thermal underwear catalogues to arrive now I'm 40 wink

I just can't think that this is a good thing. Harvesting tourmaline to chop it up and put it in lotion? Seems wasteful... Maybe it's pieces that couldn't be used for anything else though...

I hear ya. I'd rather have it in rock form, to admire and play with any day!

I suspect they use bits that wouldn't be so pretty. I think the Egyptians used lapis lazuli for eye shadow, so nothing's new under the Sun!
