Meditation is taught in different ways. How do you meditate?what results have you achieved? I do it by focussing my eyes on the tip of my nose and chant my mantra.

meditation is not about outside distractions or methods...meditation is about Bringing the Mind home, and clearing it of Obscurations.... best to cut out all other outside distractions or 'methods' and to merely focus inwardly on the breath....just watch it coming in, and going out....conscious of your body swelling and contracting as you breathe in, and breathe out...but with no commentary, or thinking of the breath......

CDM,i see that you have criticised SKY in some other posts.
In which case why should want to know all this?
Besides i dont think these step by step procedures are to be revealed.

Engee - do you mean to tell about the meditation rather than cd's step by step procedure.

Such as whether it is sitting in silence.

Includes even breathing or alternate nostril breathing.

Is 10 to 20 minutes in length.

Uses a mantra.

CD - I live in North Holland in Europe - north of Amsterdam!

My experience now is that the guru lives within - in spirit.

Just wanted to add what Baba Muktananda said-

He said that Guru lives in every heart.
For salavation a Guru in body is required.
That is- A Guru whose body is live on thois earth.
I pray that you meet a Guru in body and get blessed.

Thank you so much.
may Gurudeva bless you.
blessed was your friend who met Baba.

It is one of those debatable topics whether the seeker needs a guru who is currently in the flesh.

My opinion is that some benefit by the example of a human living a holy life.

Some read scripture and are blessed to be able to stick to a holy path.

Some experience spiritual awakening or initiation in dreams and are changed forever.

There are probably more ways than mentioned here.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

hey susan u are absolutely right.
india is a place full of bogus gurus.
if one needs a guru and one deserves a guru the right one will come to u somehow.
i do not think it right to approach a guru whom u are unsure of or a guru u do not know of.
i also dont think anyone has to the right to force another to believe ins someone just becoz he does.

its a gud topic for debate.

Why do you say that India is a place full of bogus gurus? What is the proof you have for such a statement? I met Gurus in my visit to India. How can you say all this? Why are you spoiling the name of your country? How many Gurus have you met in India and found to be bogus? What do you mean by a Bogus Guru? Let us debate.
Do you know the meaning of Guru? Please tell me.

A bogus guru is unreal.I have come across bogus gurus in keral, the state i come from.i have seen people who have had experiences with bitter gurus.
India has produced wonderful gurus too like
Shiri sai baba, swami nityananda, pramahansa yogananda, ramakrishnaparamahansa, ramana maharshi...there are many more that i cant add in the list...many more
in the nowthere is saya saibaba a saint, mata amritnandamayi, sree sree ravi shankar.i dono much abt them.i do know their teahings are good to read and to be followed.i however dono more coz i havent tried to.i have read many books on them all.
very reecently i came across teachings of swmi muktananda, disciple of swami nityananda.his teachings are beautiful.just wonderful.
but i havent seen any of these gurus...none of them....i have just read on them all and find their teachings absolutely superb.

i canbnot claim someone i dono as bogus.when i said abt bogus guru its the ones i came across in our place.there are plenty.

i hope u wil stop ur questioning.

are u always so harsh? or is it just me?

What do you mean by saying that bogus Guru is unreal. How do you find that out? What are the parameters by which you judge? I am curious to know.

Those who are in search of peace should not question everything. They should first have the ability to understand the answers. otherwise it is like teaching a kid the Theory of relativity.

Pooja is a worship service with a similar format to Sunday service in a Christian church. It is a time for offering prayers of thanksgiving and asking for blessings from our spiritual source, by whatever name you use.
