Ladies, I'de appreciate your opinion! You are invited to participate in my survey on fashion magazines' roles in the perceptions of body image among women. Your survey participation is voluntary and confidential. It will take approximately five minutes to complete the survey. I am a student at Metropolitan State University and my research through this brief survey will help me complete my B.A. degree program.
More information and my survey can be found at:

Today's young girls are being bombarded by society's standards of "perfection" and because of that they are putting unrealistic expectations on themselves. This is leading to an epidemic of young women who are plagued by eating disorders.

Dove's campaign is an excellent example of "bucking the system" and promoting "real life" and "real women". Kudos to Dove!

Hopefully it will open the eyes of the young women in our society to true beauty.

This is nothing new. For years, young women have been bombarded with certain standards that society promoted as being beautiful; today's young women are just a new crop that's being subjected to a long line of what's considered to be beautiful or perfect. If the norm was to file down our teeth to points (like they do in certain cultures) because that's the society's projection of 'beauty', then they would do it, no questions asked.

I'm glad that there is an awareness that beauty comes in all forms. I think this is an encouraging program and opens a door to speak to children who are ready about body image, especially girls.

I agree. Society put beauty in a bag, or in a big fantasy machine for us to feed off of. The treat us like parasites. I've seen some commercials where they get skinny girls to model there clothing line, and I see one full figured womyn, and she's only displayed for a second before they move on to the next skinny girl. Girls should be valued for whats in between there head, not for the silhouette of her body.

btw, you all should check out "Real Women have Curves" if you haven't already.

Ladies,

Real women NOT always have real curves! I am a mother of 3 and I am just petite! I can't do too much about it. Women with small frames, small breasts can be beautiful too even if they are size 2.

I hate these campaigns so much. First that means I am not a real woman and lastly it means that being overweight is normal.
