I couldn't resist writing about Dove's ad campaign Real Women Real Curves. BellaOnline ALERT: Raw URLs are not allowed in these forums for security reasons. Please use UBB code. If you don't know how to do UBB code just post here for help - we will help out!

Some people just like to turn a good thing into a bad thing. Dove has been very artistic with their photography, not pornographic.

I guess these same people find the nudes by Michelangelo and Botticelli offensive. They would find the nudes painted in the Sistine Chapel offensive.

Come to think of it, two hundred years after Michelangelo painted his masterpiece in the chapel, some people within the Vatican, with papal permisssion, commissioned "breeches-painters" to cover what they called "the disgusting and ungodly site of the human body."

Ungodly?! Hmmmm.

The Dove ad is beautiful.

I think Dove is doing a wonderful thing. People, children included are going to see ads with nearly naked people every day. I don't see that changing anytime soon. At least now they will be seeing people with real bodies and perhaps it will help with the body images of todays youth.

Bodies are real, we all have them. It's important for youngsters to understand that all bodies aren't the same. The models are now even "airbrushed" to make them look better. Perfection is in the eye of the beholder. I do agree that girls are given an impossible standard by only seeing stick thin models. Heck, they're so skinny, they have to BUY boobs.

Bigger and Better is for plus size ladies and girls. Check us out!

I think it is a good thing. So many girls today have unrealistic expectations of what their bodies should be like. Lots of the models even use airbrushing to make them look even better. All body sizes are WONDERFUL and we should look deeper than that for the real person inside. Bigger and Better is for plus sized ladies, check it out if you are interested. ps, I would rather be plus sized than to be so skinny that I have to buy my boobs.......

To each his own I suppose. I have seen the ads and have also seen the full feature behind the scenes story on Oprah. I think Dove is fabulous for doing this and it's one of the most beautiful campaigns I have seen.

If I can look that good at 40, 50 or 60 I will be in heaven!

However, I don't see how they are "exploiting" the women. These women auditioned to do the ads and are proud to represent the company so "exploiting" wouldn't be the word to use.

I definately think that what Dove is doing is a good thing. However, did you know that Dove is owned by the same company that owns Axe body spray? If you're familiar with their commercials, you know they certainly aren't using "real women" for their ads.

Personally, I don't understand why something so natural should be so tabbooed. The human body isn't something horrible, it's something beautiful. Now there is a difference between the body, and sexual exploitation. Being a photographer, I have seem some amazing nude shots, and they are so beautiful. I think Dove's campaign is great, because it promotes to girls that they can still be just as beautiful even if they're not skinny as a twig.It is one of the few things out there that does promote the non-0 person. I think that's good for girls to know. That they don't have to be size 0 (or now less) to be considered beautiful.
