if you don't believe in god, how can you comment in a conversation on what god might look like? that is the dilemma.
No, but as I said, I used to...and the 'what does God look like?' question arose with me too...except that it was actually my Catholic Priest who advised me to give up on an image.... he didn't buy into the statement that we were created in 'His' image, because he felt it was too much of a category thing....
I believe it's good to ponder beyond our scope of understanding.
Please don't take this as argument or criticism, because the written word is so easy to misconstrue when it is unaccompanied by an image or person actually speaking - but Buddhists are discouraged from pondering beyond the scope of understanding.... We deem it a waste of precious time. If you can't understand something, it's best to leave it aside. The answer may come at another time. But if it is classified as an imponderable, such as this question is, then it is a distraction from matters that might be better addressed, instead....
