I always worry about copyright, but I also almost always manage to find appropriate clipart that is either in the public domain or the copyright owner allows its use for any given project. Sometimes you have to look a little harder if you are doing things like books and websites (versus say an academic paper or business presentation), but if you regularly do the former type of work, you build yourself a library of sources that you can use without violating copyright.

The best way of not having to worry about copyright is to use only those images where permission has been specifically granted to use, modify or distribute images.
