Changes in seasons seem to bring on new challenges
for children with sensory integration problems, but
it's usually the same problem with different causes
or responses.
Some families install big hooks and cloth or net swings
inside when it's just not possible to get down to the
park for a good long swinging session.
Have you learned any helpful tips from OTs or physical
therapists, neurologists or other parents, that you
can share with other parents?
Sensory integration difficulties can cause children
to crave or avoid certain activities and respond
inappropriately to everyday situations.
I have heard that many children with Down syndrome
have sensory integration problems, and that some
S.I. therapy helps with speech related motor planning
problems, balance, and moods.
