I know this is a release dream. I have some ideas of what it might mean, but would love to hear what others here think.
DREAM. I just awoke from a short nap and I'm in the middle of a crowded room, like a social club. I see my youngest sister sitting with her friends. (my sister is a dental assistant, by the way). I approach them and start talking. Immediately my sister says, "my God, your breath stinks really bad, all the way over here". I feel kind of embarrassed but proceed to explain that I have sinus congestion and I just woke up. Suddenly everyone around is talking about my breathe. I start looking for my Listerine bottle. I go look under a sink and realize someone took it. I then look for a piece of gum or mint, and find none. In my mind I'm thinking: "so what if I have bad breath, it is not because I don't brush my teeth" Yet I continue to look for my mouthwash. End

I totally agree with your interpretation. The night that I dreamt that I had said something to someone that made me feel bad. I was talking to my coworker and I said a bad joke. I tried explaining to her why I thought it was funny, but I just kept digging my hole deeper. Thanks to our dreams, we can release that kind of feelings. Dreams are our escape valves. The pun I got from it is:
