First, thank you for letting me post to your site. I don't know if this is the right place for my question, but I appreciate any help that may come my way.
I play bass for a Cowgirl band and we want to add Loretta Lynn's Coal Miner's Daughter to our rep. We have some disagreement over the chord/key shifts that take place in the song. Published sources say that every other verse the key shifts up one half step, beginning at D.
My associates and I keep hearing it start on D flat, shift after the first verse to D sharp, then shift a half step with each alternating verse. Any suggestions?
