Mavis, I thought you might know the answer to this...
I bought some rope to make toys with for my softbills and my african grey. But while I was looking around on the net I noticed a lot of this white rope being referred to as cotton. I think (I'll go back to the store and check) the rope I bought is polyester. I bought it in the sewing section and they called it cording cable. It unravels and looks exactly like what I see on the net as cotton rope. Is polyester not usable? I can't find anything that specifically says not to use polyester rope. Some people tell me that their greys chew on furniture, clothes, etc that have polyester. What do you think? Thanks, Sheree

Good question Sheree & I'm not sure of the answer myself. I've just always seen cotton rope used, so without questioning it, I've looked for cotton rope.

Possibly polyester would cause problems if the threads don't break as easy as the cotton, with a bird getting caught in it.

I'll check around & see what I can find out on it.
